Recycle Nickel-Cadmium Batteries (Ni-Cd)*: Cordless/Cellular phones, Camcorder, Power tools, Rechargeable Household Batteries and Laptop Batteries

All Black & Decker, MOTOROLA, RadioShack, SEARS, Target and Wal-Mart locations accept Ni-Cd rechargeable batteries. Most ACE Hardware stores accept Ni-Cd batteries. Or, call the Charge Up to Recycle! Hotline at (800) 8-BATTERY, enter zip code or visit their website at www.rbrc.org and type in zip code for locations of participating stores that accept Ni-Cd rechargeable batteries. There is also a mail-in option.

Household Batteries - A,C & D Cell: These batteries can be disposed of safely in the garbage, or taken to an Household Chemical Waste collection. Household batteries are accepted by Walgreens, Office Depot and Radio Shack.

Lithium/Ni-Cad batteries are usually accepted at IEPA Household Chemical Waste collection events. Refer to the HCW Information section for the one-day collection location nearest you. http://www.epa.state.il.us/

Check with a jeweler, watchmaker or retailer that replaces watch and hearing aid batteries.

Automobile batteries can be recycled at Car and Battery stores if you are a customer. Most Sears Automotive Centers, Target, K-Mart, Sam’s Club, Pep Boys (Chicago Ridge) and Auto Zone (Alsip) and Wal-Mart stores will accept car, motorcycle, boat*, sump pump* and tractor lead-acid batteries (check local phone directory for their exact locations).
